The Center for Strategic Studies (CSS) was founded in 1993 as the Group of Analyses and Forecasts at the Supreme Rada Committee on Foreign Affairs and registered in October 1997 by the Justice Department in Kyiv as an independent non-profit and non-governmental organization. The goals of its activity are conducting researches on international policy and security, supporting to the process of democratic and economic transformation in Ukraine, cooperation both with non-governmental organizations, Supreme Rada, President’s Administration, regional and local authorities, self-governance institution. Chairman of CSS Board, Pavlo Zhovnirenko, Ph.D., since 1987 is specialized in international relations. Graduated from Academy for Foreign Economic Affairs (Moscow), had on-job training in UN Secretariat Economic Department (New York), Political Department of the North Atlantic Assembly Secretariat (Brussels) and Office of Information and Press of NATO (Brussels). Since 1992 works as an advisor for 3 Supreme Rada committees (Foreign Affairs, National Defense and Security, Human Rights), Chairman of the International Policy and Security Working Group of the American-Ukrainian Advisory Committee (organized by Dr. Z. Brzezinski), Programs Director of the Council of Advisors to the Supreme Rada, Programs Director of the International Renaissance Foundation. He is an author of dozens analyzes and projects for Presidium of Supreme Rada, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Chairman of President’s Administration and over 40 articles in Ukrainian, European and U.S. Press. |
